Consultation on Timber Treatment

Issue 20 – September 2010

The Department of Building and Housing (DBH) is proposing a simplified system for timber treatment which retains the current level of consumer protection, is safe and could reduce the cost of building. DBH encourages all interested organisations and individuals to consider the proposals and make a submission.

The proposed changes would allow a single hazard class, H1.2, to be used for nearly all internal timber framing. The Acceptable Solution for Building Code clause B2 (Durability) would be amended and clarified to allow this.
