Review of land development Standard – progress update
The review of Land development and subdivision engineering NZS 4404:2004 is progressing and a revised Standard is expected to be published later this year. The technical committee has completed its review of over 100 public submissions, comprising over 1900 separate comments on the draft Standard. Those who submitted comments included local authorities, central government agencies, developers, consultants, and various interest groups. Many of the comments received were in support of the overall approach of the draft Standard, and included suggestions for further improving the Standard. The committee reviewed each comment before deciding on appropriate changes to the Standard.
New ISO Standard for reducing noise near airports
Acoustics – Unattended monitoring of aircraft sound in the vicinity of airports ISO 20906:2009 has been introduced to help regulators, professionals, and researchers to reduce noise near airports. This new Standard complements the existing New Zealand Standard Airport noise management and land use planning NZS 6805:1992, which was developed to ensure that people living close to an airport are properly protected from the effects of aircraft noise, while also recognising the need to be able to operate an airport efficiently.
